My experience with distance learning began with the COVID-19 pandemic. At first, there were no zoom meetings. Teachers would post the assignments we had for the week and we would complete them by the due date, which is pretty similar to the asynchronous online courses I've had in college. As my junior year began, we used daily zoom meetings at the time of our classes. Our teachers shared their screens and gave us assignments in class that were only open for that period on canvas. I believe they were both very effective but when it comes to a more rigorous course, I would rather have the teacher in the meeting because we can actively participate and get involved. I have yet to take a distance learning course at FSU and I am looking forward to seeing how that experience goes next semester.  An OER are open resources that educators can use and reuse without permission. They can be modules, textbooks, or educational games. A great resource I was able to find was  https://oe...

Journal 8 While designing my website for this assignment, I learned and practiced many skills. There are many principles I used when designing. Utilizing contrast, I was able to differentiate and make other titles and passages stand out. Another great principle that I used were alignments. With pictures and passages, it helped my website flow and look better and make a connections. Lastly, using repetition I found more consistency which helped when forming lists and keeping the professional look for the site. I enjoyed finding the better looks for the site and personalizing the template. I can use this site and my website making skills in order to have an excellent class website and make it a great resource for both students and parents. Using QR codes in the class can have many many uses. First, it can be used as a link to a google classroom, classdojo, or padlet. That way students have a faster access into these sites instead of having to search through the internet. It can also be u...

After visiting some school websites, I ended up on West Broward High School's site. They are a school in the county I used to go to school in and I found some information. All teachers are listed with a link to their website. I mostly found their names, grades, pictures, and schedule for class. Whenever I tried to go further I had to log in and obviously my high school account is deactivated. The link is here.   I envision myself using different types of technology to accomplish my responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. One of the productivity tools I would like to use is Class dojo. Through here I can update parents on what they are up to and it has a point system. In my last job, we used this tool to give the students points based on their performance and behavior. Another great tool is Google Classroom. This can be used to post powerpoints, turn in assignments, and post homework and resources that the students can find with ease.  Working on assignment 2 w...

My experience with blogging so far has been very positive. I have not feel obligated to write even though they are for a grade. I like writing about my experiences without thinking about the right or wrong answer for a grade. So far, I have learned that blogging comes natural and you can't make up experiences in order to just answer the question.  An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I might use when teaching is google docs . This tool is used to write and store papers on the web. It is easy to access and it has automatic saving which many students will need. When used with google classrooms, I can access their files submitted and make it easier to grade and check progress. Lastly, because it is a web 2.0 tool, it allows for students to invite each other into their documents and revise together. It also allows for them to add comments and notes in order to collaborate when correcting or revising.  When I began using generative AI, I was very excited and skeptical. I downloaded cha...

Social media like Pinterest, instagram, and X have had a great impact on my Personal Learning Network. Before starting this class, I would use them mostly for quick entertainment and sometimes to find quick solutions to problems. After learning and applying how useful it can be, I have been mostly interacting with accounts about education news and teaching methods. I have found these pages beneficial for a couple of reasons. First, it is great to see information that will be useful to me in the future instead of videos and posts that offer no real insight into what I will be doing later on in life. Next, these posts and accounts offer great tips into bettering yourself for your profession and how this will lead into being a better educator.  The digital divide in education becomes more apparent as time goes on. This trend has been seen for the last couple of years, but I believe most future educators will not suffer from this as teacher's now do. Personally, before moving to the Un...

The standard I selected was being able to use technology in order to problem solve. I do feel prepared in teaching this standard based on my current skill set. I have been using technology in this process since the sixth grade. It can be used to formulate a chart in order to understand better. It can be used as a tool for research on a problem which promotes interpretation of data. It can also be utilized to find similar experiences which can then yield results. I will continue learning in order to be fully versed in this area but I do believe I would be able to teach this and have students meet this standard in my class. I selected resources for second grade social studies. In this I found many lesson plans, videos, and important questions to ask. I can use these resources as a way to meet standards easily. These lessons are very through and I would adapt them into my teaching philosophy. It is always great to already have some kind of outline to use. The interactive pages I can ...

Copyright and fair use are necessary when working. Often people make a living off the images, music, or videos they make so it is essential to know how to work with this. As a teacher, it's important to know the tags that are used. Most of the time finding these won't be that difficult thanks to many resources such as websites that help find copyright fair use items. Most the time there won't be a problem because they aren't being used in a commercial way, just educational. With the students, it is important to inform them about the different rules before starting any project where it is necessary. It is important for them to credit and quote any source they use. I do not have any other questions about this, because I learned in class. As long as I have been a student, academic dishonesty has been an issue. Before, it was about rightfully crediting and quoting ideas and sources, and copying others papers. Nowadays, it also includes using AI to generate papers and other ...
